Rich colors, tied by cork cancel, purple "Philadelphia 12 Paid Dec. 10" (1869) credit datestamp on small cover to Paris, France and forwarded to Alexandria, Egypt, addressed in care of Drexel, Harjes & Co. in Paris, blue "Forwarded by Drexel Harjes & Co., Paris" oval handstamp, blue Cherbourg transit also ties stamp, red boxed "PD" handstamp, red manuscript "Alexandria" at upper left, some slight edgewear, Very Fine and scarce use of the 15c on a cover forwarded to Egypt, the 1869 PRA census lists only two covers with denominations higher than 12c to Egypt, the other is also a 15c Type II, ex Coulter (Siegel Sale 911, lot 222) and from the same correspondence, ex Dr. Heimburger (Image)
