VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE SOLO USE OF THE 50-BAJOCCHI STAMP ON COVER.

The 50b stamp paid the ten-times rate to the Pontifical border. It then went through Tuscany and on to Torino.

FINE. AN ENORMOUSLY RARE USE OF THE 1864 50-BAJACCHI STAMP ON COVER. ONE OF ONLY 30 RECORDED.

This pays the correct 72-bajocchi rate to Geneva. The Sassone catalogue lists the 30 recorded copies of No. 12 on cover. This it the only one with this combination of stamps and one of two to Switzerland.

353 c Italian States - Roman States - Balance of Reverend Mullowney's Postal History Exhibit Collection. One binder with 93 covers that are the balance of his exhibit, and a second binder of 37 covers that were not included in the exhibit, but nonetheless contains some interesting and scarce usages, laid out by issue and then denomination, the 1852 Issue contains -1/2-baj to 8-baj stamps, with single use, multiple use and mixed denomination uses, also a 5b postal forgery (Sassone F3), the 1867 Issue contains various denominations, including the 80c, which is represented by a solo use, a strip of three, and as part of a four-color franking, the 1868 Perforated series was similarly collected, and includes scarce items such as Sassone No. 25c strip of four, vast majority to Italian destinations, but there are some to various European countries and a couple to the United States, condition is mixed as one would expect, though the overall quality is above the norm this, nine certificates accompany, please see the scans of the entire lot on our website to see the diverse range of usages present
