Large accumulation of approximately 290 covers on stock pages, mostly No. 73 but a number of grills as well, lots of variety including some colored cancels, a few combinations with other stamps, use to Canada, few corner cards, one on an annual report for the Chicago and Quincy Railroad, carrier uses, strip of six on cover, many include circulars or other content, condition is quite mixed with some Fine and some faulty, overall there are a fair number of saleable covers, total Scott Retail counting all as No. 73 more than $21,000.00

Group of approximately 36 covers, culled from a much larger accumulation for some feature that makes each one a bit more interesting than the standard single circular use, including a few fancy cancels, a number of colored cancels with some bold Cincinnati O. uses, a Feb. 28, 1868 E Grill which was once the EDU (with an A.P.S. certificate stating so, but Scott now lists Feb. 27), registered, forwarded within Texas with a pair, use with 1c and 3c Bank Notes on a registered 3c entire, also 12 with 1c 1861 Issue in combination, mixed condition with flaws to be expected but we left the truly faulty covers in the larger balance so this group contains some very attractive uses (Image)

Nov. 30" duplex datestamp on registered cover to Bridgefield Maine with "Going to Crawford's for the News & Notions" horse and rider illustrated corner card, the design was applied by a handstamp, stamp with some slight gum soaked perfs and small adherence at left, Fine and fascinating design, according to Wikipedia's history of Girardville Pa., "Captain Jack" Crawford, (also known as the "Poet Scout") was a western actor, a scout for General George Crook's campaign in the Black Hills and a performer with William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill), he was postmaster and had a small general store in Girardville in 1869-1874 before leaving town to go out west to find Gold, his poem "Only a Miner Killed" about his experiences as a miner was said to be used by Bob Dylan as the basis for his song "Only a Hobo."
