Dateline on folded letter to Willet N.Y., two-page letter from Oronde Beardsley to his father, much of content seems to be taken up with his asking why his father hasn't written, sender spent time on vessels as a gunner's mate and spent two months in Hawaii, red Providence R.I. circular datestamp and "SHIP" handstamp, manuscript "12" rate, some slight soiling and minor edgewear, Very Fine (Image)

Bold strike of red circular datestamp on 1852 cover to Mr. William Spencer in New London Conn., "San Francisco Cal. 15 Jun." circular datestamp, with original 1852-dated contents with letter written in two directions to maximize content while minimizing weight (handwritten transcript accompanies), fascinating contents includes 130-day trip to Hawaii etc., small piece out at bottom left, some edgewear and soiling, still Very Fine, carried on the Hawaiian schooner Maria, which departed Honolulu May 12 with a stop at Lahaina, it arrived in San Francisco May 15 (Image)
