AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 4-CENT DR. D. JAYNE & SONS ISSUE IN RED. PERHAPS FOUR OR FIVE ARE KNOWN.
The Joyce sale contained one example of this rarity, with creases. The Don Green collection contained another, hand trimmed on all sides and with vertical creases. All known copies of this stamp have green offset on back, in what appears to be the color of the normally issued stamp.

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 4-CENT ORANGE DR. D. JAYNE & SON ISSUE. PERHAPS TWO OR THREE ARE KNOWN. A WONDERFUL SHOWPIECE.

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE DIE CUT 4-CENT ORANGE DR. D. JAYNE & CO. -- A PHENOMENAL RARITY.
The Joyce sale did not contain any examples that were die cut, and contained one cut square, similar to the example offered in the previous lot. This is the only one that is die cut. All known copies of this stamp have green offset on back, in what appears to be the color of the normally issued stamp.
