EXTREMELY FINE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 PERFORATED ONE-CENT TYPE I. PARTICULARLY EYE-APPEALING WITH THE RED NEW YORK CITY CARRIER DATESTAMP.
The defining characteristic of Type I is that the entire design is printed, including the scrolls and plumes at bottom. Type I perforated stamps are only known from certain positions on Plate 12. Due to the narrow spacing between perforations and difficulties of production, this issue is usually found with part of the design cut off by the perforations. The example offered here, with bright color, a clear cancel and with the design characteristics clearly visible, is a true condition rarity.

EXTREMELY FINE LIGHTLY-HINGED ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT 1857 TYPE II.
With copy of 1980 P.F. (for a block) and 2017 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, XF 90; SMQ $4,250.00) (Image)
FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE PERFORATED 1857 ONE-CENT TYPE III.
This stamp was printed from Plate 4, which originally produced imperforate stamps and was used only briefly after the introduction of perforations in 1857 before being discontinued. Original-gum examples of stamps from Plate 4 are extremely scarce. (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A GORGEOUS EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 ONE-CENT PERFORATED TYPE III, WHICH CLEARLY SHOWS THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TYPE.
Due to narrow spacing on the plate, examples of this type often have the perforations cutting into the outer lines at either top or bottom or both. The example offered here clearly presents the characteristics of the type.
