EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT ON BLUISH, WHICH HAS BEEN GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. -- ONLY ONE HAS GRADED HIGHER.
With 1996 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98; SMQ $3,500.00). Only four others have achieved this grade and only one has graded higher (statistics that have not changed since 2012). The sole example graded higher, at 98 Jumbo, realized $15,500 hammer in our auction of the Scarsdale collection (Image)

A search of our records surprised us. We have offered perhaps a half-dozen in Mint N.H. condition since keeping computerized records.

We have offered only six unduplicated Mint N.H. examples since 1992 (the last in our 2009 Whitman sale). The online records of the Philatelic Foundation do not contain many more, including two that are reperfed.
