CANADA, 1851, 6p Slate Violet, Laid Paper (2; SG 2). Mostly huge margins, ample to top left, incredibly fresh color, intense impression on fresh paper, neat red target cancel and trace of town datestamp

EXTREMELY FINE. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE 6-PENCE ON LAID PAPER COMPLIMENTED BY A RED TARGET CANCEL.

This is the first example we have offered with a red cancel since keeping computerized records. Unlike the 3p which are scarce with the red target, it rarely is offered on the 6p.

CANADA, 1959, 5c Seaway Invert (387a; SG 513a). Mint N.H., beautifully centered, rich colors

EXTREMELY FINE MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE RARE CANADA SEAWAY INVERT.

The St. Lawrence Seaway provided for passage from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes. It was a collaboration between the United States and Canada. The Seaway was opened in 1959 with a ceremony led by Queen Elizabeth II and President Eisenhower. Both the United States and Canada issued stamps to commemorate the event. Both stamps have the same basic design, except the Canada stamp has bilingual text at top. The invert is only known on the Canadian stamp.
