534 ng 143LP1 imageWells Fargo & Co., Newspaper Stamp, 1861-70, black (Scott 143LP1), unused without gum, 3 large margins, ample at top, lovely charcoal color on fresh paper, completely sound, Very Fine and attractive, The other no gum or part gum examples offered previously at auction have faults and especially thins, which suggest to us that those were either stuck down and amateurly separated or were affixed to letters but not canceled and again amateurly removed (the unique example on a surviving cover is uncanceled). If the latter were true, the soundness of this stamp may indicate it is a rare truly unused example. Worthy of further research., with 2021 P.F. certificate.
