Scott $3,000.

The Scott catalog of proofs and essays lists 17 different frame colors for the $1.00 Trans-Mississippi bicolor essay with black vignette, 15 of which are unique, including this one, and 13 have Ridgway numbers used to describe the colors. Unfortunately, "dark madder violet" is not among the 17 listed colors. So we performed a google search for "dark madder violet" "Ridgway" and found https://www.gutenberg.org/files/63087/63087-h/63087-h.htm which shows the color "dark madder violet". This should lead to a revision of the Scott catalog listing.

Scott $9,000.

According to Clarence Brazer, 2 additional sets were printed and trimmed to small die proofs with one given to FDR and the other later gifted to the PF in 1957 and deaccessioned in 1973. This set is unique and significantly undercatalogued in Scott. Not that it matters because whatever this sells for will become the new Scott catalog value.
