SG 2; £13,500 ($22,610). S.G. Spec. AS41.
Scott $11,000.
Estimate $5,000 - 7,500

Plate 6 was very hard worked and soon worn out, only being used for about seven months from June 15, 1840 to January 9, 1841. It is known as a "spotty plate". The ragged condition of the side lines in the first state of this plate appears more frequently than on the stamps from Plates 4 & 5. According to P.C. Litchfield, plate 6 was certainly the most carelessly laid down of all the black plates. However, a handsome stamp in a condition that is rarely offered on the market.
