2332 P 10X2P4, 10X2TC4 imageProvidence, R.I., 1846, 5¢-10¢ large die and trial color proofs (Scott 10X2P4, 10X2TC4), fabulous offering of five large die proofs of the Providence Postmaster Provisional issue, the complete set of cards, comprised of the plate proof on card, and the four Scott listed colors of Trial Color Proofs on card, each with full plate sinkage; these Trial Color Proofs were printed in the shades of gray blue, brown carmine, green, and brown; a Superb GEM quality set of these rarely offered proofs, this being the finer of the two sets that are known to exist; of the 15 original sets that were printed, most were either defective or soiled, others were cut up or separated from their sets; this spectacular set has been off the market since 2000, and is being offered for the first time in over 14 years; an opportunity that comes along once every decade or so, Superb.
