Lot 1252 - Federal Duck Stamp, 1934, $1 Mallards (Scott RW1), bottom right plate number 129202 block of 6, o.g., never hinged, a true condition rarity, phenomenally well centered with rich color and crisp detail, Extremely Fine. According to Bob Dumaine, dealer and noted authority on Duck Stamps, perhaps fewer than 15 #RW1 plate blocks of this caliber exist, with 2002 P.S.E. certificate.

The sale begins with a 1586 letter from Queen Elizabeth I’s Principal Secretary to the Sheriff of Nottingham, followed by solid Great Britain pound-value stamps, Machin trial colors, and British Commonwealth running from Ascension to Zululand. British North America follows, with three mint $5 Jubilees (one never hinged) and an outstanding holding of Canadian Federal and Provincial Revenues, while Worldwide offers classic China, Czech proofs, Denmark #1 and advertising booklets, and more besides. US Postal History includes Arizona and Utah Territory covers, the latter addressed to Brigham Young himself.
