AUSTRALIA: 1917-18 three unstamped covers to "M Aron/38 Company 9 Messe/German Concentration Camp/Liverpool" with Sydney machine
cancels (two with 'HELP TO WIN THE WAR/...' slogans) and 'CENSORED/GERMAN CONCENTRATION CAMP/LIVERPOOL' cachet in violet or blue on the reverse, some mostly minor defects. Each with the accompanying letters from his brother "Sam" with comments such
as "...I sent to you yesterday...a parcel of 150 cigars...", "...I am coming out to see you...always do what the authorities demand of you and you will have no troubles..." Very interesting that one brother was interned while the other retained his
freedom.

GERMANY: 1916 (Apr 26) cover (195x123mm) from 'NASSAU' with huge POW heading cachet in purple, to "Paul Deutsch/Concentration
Camp/Liverpool/..." with Russian boxed censor cachet applied at Petrograd (= St Petersburg; so-named 1914-24 only, when renamed Leningrad), the flap later sealed over the cachet but now lifted to reveal it, large 'PART OF A MAIL CAPTURED/BY GERMANS
AND DELAYED' cachet in blue-black and sans-serif 'RHolman LIEUT COL/.../LIVERPOOL NSW' cachet in violet, some peripheral damage apparently caused by bulky contents & ironed-out central vertical fold. The only example recorded by us. Presumably a
maritime incident, not recorded by Brian Peace. The Russian marking suggests it was sent via Siberia, but it could also have been sent through the Baltic. (Image1) (Image2)

Salonika, then missent (?) to GB with London cds of '19NO/17' from where apparently forwarded under cover to NSW, light overall aging & minor toning. A very unusual multi-Force item. See EFR at page 56. (Image1) (Image2)

HONG KONG: 1916 (Mar 7) stampless envelope from Germany to "Karl Welle/Hongkong/China/CP of War No 187" with Hong Kong black/pink
'OPENED BY CENSOR' label on the reverse, redirected to the POW Information Bureau in London with British POW censor cachet, endorsed "NSW" & forwarded (probably under cover) with very fine 'RSSands LIEUT COL/.../LIVERPOOL NSW' cachet in violet,
roughly opened. In -.1.1916, about 300 German internees at the Hung Hom Camp were sent to NSW. The cover would have arrived not long after the internees were transfered to NSW, so it is surprising that it was sent to London. See EFR at page 36. (Image1) (Image2)
