cachet in violet, 'SERVICE DES PRISONNIERS DE GUERRE' and light but legible 'CENSORED/BERRIMA DETENTION BARRACKS/BERRIMA' cachet both in violet, to California USA with very fine 'PASSED BY CENSOR/24JE15/=CS=' cds in violet used at Sydney. Lt Mayer
was captured in New Guinea, where he was leading a group of native 'soldiers'. Gary Diffen records the 3-line cachet between 17.3.1915 & 17.4.1915 only. This is two months later. It is rated RR. (Image1) (Image2)

WAR/[crown]/ INFORMATION BUREAU' cachet in violet, 'GOTEBORG 7/16.9.15' arrival backstamp where improperly taxed with black/green 'LOSEN/...' label & 10o strip of 4 in lieu of Postage Dues affixed to the reverse but crossed-out when the error was

of the 25mm 'PRISONER OF WAR LETTER/FREE', superb 'SERVICE...' & boxed 'PASSED BY/CENSOR SD' cachets all in violet, British POW censor cachet in grey-blue. An extraordinary usage. An offset impression of the originating 'BREMEN/13.8.15' cds on the

1915 (Oct 24) usage of KGV Sideface 1d Perf 12½ Letter Card in deep grey-green (very unusual colour) with '2nd A.I.F. EMBARKING'
(massed troops beside their ship) ACSC LC25(M1A), to "Georg Vage/German Detention Barracks/Berrima", 'RANDWICK/N.S.W' cds, very fine strike of the rare seriffed 'CENSORED/ _________MAJOR/GERMAN CONCENTRATION CAMP' without 'LIVERPOOL, N.S.W.' at the
base (and with no officer's signature) in violet on the face, a couple of very minor blemishes. See EFR at page 106. The cachet is recorded by Gary Diffen 15.1.1915 to 25.1.1915 only - this is nine months later - but was previously unrecorded without

to prominent Sydney stamp dealer JH Smyth with 'BERRIMA DETENTION BARRACKS/BERRIMA NSW' (rated RRR) partly overstruck with 'RHolman LIEUT COL/GERMAN CONCENTRATION CAMPS/LIVERPOOL NSW' cachet both in violet, superb 'LIVERPOOL/14DE16/=NSW=' cds and

Berrima) and 70mm 'Nicht zwischen die Zeilen schreiben!' (= do not write between the lines) within, endorsed on the flap "JA Mayer Capt/Berrima" with 'RHolman LIEUT COL/GERMAN CONCENTRATION CAMPS/LIVERPOOL NSW' cachet in violet, to a lady in
California USA stating "Dear friend, Many thanks for your affectionate lines which caught me in very despondent mood...[I] am still in the same humiliating position and [do] not know what will become of [me]...", minor internal repairs & the flap

recorded strike of the italicised 'Berrima Detention Barracks/Berrima NSW' (rated RRRRR) in violet at lower-left, to Sydney with 'BERRIMA' cds unusually in blue & red/white 'BERRIMA' R label (a bit toned), superb 'MOSS VALE/28JA19/NSW' transit &
