1916-22 KGV 'Star' without 'POSTAGE' 1d red Die 1 + KGV Sideface ½d green Doubleton ACSC ES36 with no user indicated, a couple of
tiny aging marks on the reverse otherwise very fine unused, Cat $6000. The ACSC states that "One mint [sic] and four used entires are recorded ... It is suggested the two combinations in total comprise the 150 envelopes printed in March 1920 for the
Evangelical Lutheran Synod in Australia (Vic)". On 28.10.1918 (a mere two weeks before the Armistice), a ½d War Tax was introduced. The envelope was uprated to meet the combined domestic letter rate plus War Tax. See also Lot 4422 above for a
similarly-uprated KGV Sideface 1d red envelope, being the other "combination" referred to be the ACSC. (Image1) (Image2)
