1918-25 KGV Sideface Scenic Issues 'THREE/HALFPENCE' Surcharge on 2d orange on off-white card (grey inside) with 'LOG TRAIN/JARRAH
FOREST W.A.' (steam locomotive pulling timber trucks on logging tramway) view ACSC LC52(71B), local philatelic usage to "Mr W Brett" [Brettschneider], Middle Park with message "Issued 16 Jan 1924", Melbourne 'BRITISH EMPIRE EXHIBITION' cancel, opened
in the European fashion with the margins intact, a few minor blemishes, under-catalogued at $3500. The ACSC states that only one unused and this used example are recorded. Sold at a Melbourne auction in 2017 for $8142.

overprinted. Remarkably five of those are known to have survived. (Image1) (Image2)

Surcharge Diagonal & Misplaced to Right as ACSC LC54(51)c, light bend at upper-left otherwise very fine unused, Cat $400+. The card has untrimmed edges on two sides, suggesting it originated from a corner of the uncut stock sheet, which may have
contributed to the misplacement. The ACSC states that "to qualify as a misplaced surcharge, the whole of one letter of the surcharge should be outside the stamp impression", which is definitely the case here (compare the previous Lot), but does not
record any diagonal misplacements. (Image1) (Image2)

1918-25 KGV Sideface Scenic Issues 1½d red on grey card with 'G.P.O. HOBART' view with Major Plate Crack from Left Frame to Top of
Gates ACSC 55(58B)da, unused, a little very minor discolouration along the fold otherwise very fine, Cat $500. The sky is also badly deteriorated especially near the upper frame, and a second crack has started to develop through the lower branches of
the tree at left. John Sinfield's similar example sold at our auction of 3.3.2019 for $354 (Sale 233 Lot 2287).
This was the final issue of Scenic Letter Cards. The printings on grey stock represent the majority of the issue. The Stamp Printer TS Harrison deliberately allowed some scenes to deteriorate dramatically, to justify cancelling the programme. Many of
the plates wore to the point where views were almost unidentifiable; several others developed major plate cracks. Eventually, production of scenic cards was discontinued in 1925. (Image1) (Image2)
