1917 Provisional Use of Separated Reply Cards - Australian Commonwealth KGVI Fullface 1d red 'ADDRESS ONLY ...' Admonition
message-half with 'WITH REPLY CARD' Barred-Out ACSC P29, used 1917 to Albany with Perth machine cancel and short greetings message in French, a couple of minor blemishes on the face & a few light aging marks on the reverse, Cat $10,000. The 1911
1d+1d Reply Cards were supplied only to Western Australia, where few, if any, were actually sold. When the unsold cards were returned in 1917 to be separated & overprinted, the 3978 single cards resulting were re-issued only to Western Australia. The
ACSC states that only one unused & one used example are recorded. No example of the reply-half so overprinted has been recorded. One of the great rarities of Australian Postal Stationery. Ex John Sinfield: sold at our auction of 8.11.2013 for $13,225
