1914-16 KGV Sideface 1d red Die II + ½d green ACSC PS7 Reply 'Mailing Card' on bright green surfaced stock for 'The Leviathan Mail
Order Department' with Melbourne return address printed on the face of the ½d reply card and printed advertising for ordering tailored suits by mail on the reverse of both halves, used with Melbourne'12SE14' machine cancel, the addressee's name &
address (apparently Footscray) and their client code (which identified them without adding their name) erased otherwise very fine, Cat $15,000. The ACSC states "one example is recorded" (this item; illustrated at page 48) and that the two different
values were required because the joined card did not qualify as printed matter, whereas the separated reply portion did. A sensational Postal Stationery rarity. Ex John Steward. A very fine used example of the earlier Leviathan Kangaroos ½d + ½d
reply mailing card (two known) sold at our auction of 8.11.2013 for $10,350 (Sale 186 Lot 2173). (Image1) (Image2)
