very fine 'UPTON-ON-SEVERN/SP29/1847' backstamp & equally fine oval 'PAID SHIP LETTER/[crown]/SP30/1847/=LONDON=' on the face and unusually fine Launceston 'SHIPLETTER/31JA 1/1848' (probably an error for '1FE1') backstamp, minor blemishes. A very
scarce quartet. Re the last, Tabeart states that 'Alert' arrived Sydney 30.1.1848, which can't be correct because the Sydney-Launceston leg would have taken at least two days. (4) (Image1) (Image2)

1849 (April 20) envelope to Evesham, Worcestershire with QV Line-Engraved Imperf 1d red-brown [LL] (margins large to just touched
at upper-left) tied by Numeral '134' horizontal oval-of-bars and 'BRISTOL' despatch cds on the reverse, 'MICKLETON' undated circular handstamp and 'EVESHAM/AP21/1849' arrival backstamps where re-directed to Campden, very fine 'BROADWAY/AP21/1849' cds

received too late for delivery on the same day to one of the local villages. (Image1) (Image2)
