1870-71 QV De La Rue Sidefaces Hobart Printings Single-Lined Numeral Wmk Paper Perf 12 2d blue-green with Pronounced Double Print
SG 129ba, neat 'TASMANIA'-in-bars cancel of Hobart, unpriced (the Perf 11½ Double Print Cat £1800). Ex Jack Shatsis. RPSV Certificate (2025). A very fine example of this famous error. This is the stamp illustrated on the cover of 'The Australian
Philatelist' (Spring 1989). At page 4, it is stated "The probable explanation...is that the original pale yellow-green print was considered unsatisfactory...[and] they were passed through the press a second time using a new ink mix". Far superior to
the Perf 11½ example offered in our auction of 24.5.2008 (Sale 136 Lot 273) - "ironed-out creases and a small closed tear" - that sold for $2070.

1870-71 QV De La Rue Sidefaces Hobart Printings Single-Lined Numeral Wmk Paper Perf 11½ 2d blue-green with Pronounced Double Print
SG 133ab, regummed, Cat £5000. The only unused example known to us of this spectacular error. Sold at our auction of 24.5.2008 for $8155 (Sale 136 Lot 272), providing the basis for Gibbons' catalogue value. RPSV Certificte (2025).
'The Australian Philatelist' of Spring 1989 highlighted this variety and stated: "This shows two distinct impressions, considerably displaced with regard to each other. The strong impression is in a blue-green shade. The weaker impression, in pale
yellow-green, was the first printed." (Image1) (Image2)
