1860-69 QV Perkins Bacon Second Rouletted Issue 6d dull ultramarine horizontal pair Imperf Between SG 30a, the right-hand unit
apparently damaged but it is separated along the vertical rouletting, the extrusion at upper-right being an aberration, both units tied to a small piece by very fine 'PORT ADELAIDE/SP6/66/SA' cds, Cat £9500. One of the major errors of South
Australia. RPSL Certificate (1929). Absent from most of the major collections including of Harry Lower, Michael Blake and Don Pearce. Gary Diffen's very fine strip of 3 imperf between the second and third units, stated to be "the only example
recorded", sold for £6960.
With our vendor's consent, we have lifted the stamps, and hinged them back in place. Our examination confirmed that the pair is imperf between, and rouletted at left and right. Importantly, as noted above, the pair is undamaged at right. (Image1) (Image2)

1860-69 QV Perkins Bacon Second Rouletted Issue 'TEN PENCE' in Black on 9d yellow with the Surcharge Inverted at the Top SG 37a,
full rouletting misplaced horizontally with a fragment of a second surcharge evident at the base, a single closed pinhole, 'GPO ADELAIDE/OC13/69/SA' cds obscures the overprint, Cat £7500. Ex Colonel Harry Napier (1976). A famous error of which
'Shilling Violet' No 16 (Sep 1989) recorded a mere 15 known (not including Peter Jaffé's unique pair). RPSL Certificate (1965) unkindly states "traces of a vertical crease". Remarkably, we have previously sold two other examples cancelled on the same
day for $3725 (Sale 151 Lot 300) and $10,485 (Sale 188 Lot 1178). (Image1) (Image2)

1860-69 QV Perkins Bacon Second Rouletted Issue 'TEN PENCE' in Black on 9d yellow with the Surcharge Inverted at the Top SG 37a
with Overprint Sub-Type V (straight 'TEN'), full rouletting, light but legible '33' Diamond Numeral cancel of Riverton completely clear of the surcharge, tiny closed pin-hole (caused by the bars cancel?) at lower-left, Cat £7500. An attractive
example of this famous error of which 'Shilling Violet' No 16 (Sep 1989) recorded a mere 15 known (not including Peter Jaffé's unique pair). RPSL Certificate (1965) issued to Lt Col GNC Napier. More attractive than Michael Blake's example - the
surcharge misplaced & partly off the stamp - that sold for $10,485 (Sale 188 Lot 1178). (Image1) (Image2)
