POSTAL CARDS: QV Chalons 1d+1d rosine two impressions on the same side of a double-size buff card, centrally folded horizontally
but otherwise with no means of separation, faults. Thought to be an essay for a reply card that was not adopted. However, Alan Griffiths' similar essay - also with major faults - endorsed "Proof for Colour" had no horizontal lines above & below 'THE
ADDRESS ONLY...' This causes us to think this is a pair of single cards, not a reply card. Even as such, it is a rare item. (Image1) (Image2)

POSTAL CARDS: 1891 QV 1½d+1½d brown 'CARTE POSTALE' heading with Major Misplacement of the Design on Both Sides resulting in the
Coat of Arms appearing at right instead of at left on both sides, the horizontal perforations cutting through the heading & indicia on the message side and the heading & indicia misplaced downwards on the reply side, light characteristic stock
discolouration mostly on the message side & minor perf separation. With a normal card for comparison. A spectacular error.

POSTAL CARDS: 1897 (circa) Essay for a Pictorial Issue with QV Jubilee Portrait 1d black with '1837' & '1897' in the corner tablets
on thin cream stock with scene at left of three aboriginal boys with 'VIEW FROM THE BARRON' on the negative & captioned 'BARRON RIVER, CAIRNS RAILWAY', minor hinge remains on the reverse otherwise superb. A delightful example of this hybrid essay
featuring an unissued stamp, an unadopted heading, and one of the adopted scenes. Ex Ron Butler: sold in 2004 sold for £3220. The Diamond Jubilee essay was adapted for ½d stamps and wrappers only, and only after the dates were removed. The UPU
heading was not required for 1d rate cards, and this style was not adopted for the 1½d cards. (Image1) (Image2)
