between Rosettes, central Port Moresby '-3DE06' unframed cds cancel, a couple of minor marks, Cat £4000+ for normal. Quite likely the only known example of this rare stamp with a 'Watermark Cross'. See Croaker at page 17-18 for an explanation of the
rarity of the 'Watermark Cross' used to signify the centre of the Papermarker's sheet (each of which were cut into six printing sheets), and of which he had seen only a handful of examples all on the Watermark Vertical Thin Paper 2d. See also Lot

and 2/6d black & brown SG 18-20 blocks of 4 from the upper-left or upper-right (2/6d) corners of the sheets with Printers' Guideline Crosses in the margins, all well-centred, the 6d & 1/- with a couple of light diagonal gum bends, the 6d & 2/6d with
a few minor gum aging marks, the 1/- upper-right unit slightly oxidised, all unmounted, Cat £1060+ for mounted singles. Scarce multiples: Tim Rybak did not have any blocks from this issue; Peter Troy's 'set' of blocks including the 4d - two

 1906 Large 'Papua.' Overprints Rosettes Watermark Horizontal Thick Paper Line Perf 14 1/- black & orange SG 19 block of 4 from the
upper-right corner of the sheet with small-part Printers' Guideline Cross in the margin, the lower-left unit with Thick Second 'p' of 'Papua', the upper units with aged hinge remainders, the lower units with some adhesion on the gum, Cat £140+ for
normal singles. Croaker mentions (page 1-2) that one of the few varieties he had seen from this issue was "on the 1/- value ... illustrated in the Leask collection. This showed the downstroke of the second 'p' of 'Papua' much thicker than normal". In
addition to the downstroke, the top & bottom loops of the 'p' here are also thickened. (Image1) (Image2)
