1969 (Aug 30) registered double-rate airmail cover to Czechoslovakia under Russian Occupation, with scarce franking of Captain Cook
75c + 10c Fish (surface scrape) tied by Melbourne GPO cds, blue/white R label & Sydney transit backstamp, Czech small #24 censor (or Customs?) cachet in green & 'BEZ CLA' (= Duty Free) handstamp in violet both on the face, minor wrinkling. The Zone 5
airmail rate was 30c x2 plus 25c registration. Because of moderate reforms introduced by the government of Alexander Dubcek, on 20.8.1968 Soviet forces invaded Czechoslovakia and imposed harsh measures. The purging of reformers lasted until 1971.

1971 (Sept 15) Vogue Australia business reply envelope (front only) returned with Brisbane machine cancel, endorsed "70/$5.60" to
pay for 70 articles with Navigators 50c $1 & $2 pair plus National Development 10c affixed tied by Sydney GPO cds, a couple of minor edge faults not affecting adhesives. The Business Reply Mail service required the provider of the envelopes to pay
the letter rate plus a fee on receipt, in this case 6c letter rate plus 2c fee per article. Sold at our auction of 21.2.2024 for $204.
