1869 (Sept 13) cover to Gloucestershire, England endorsed "Via Marseille" with Perkins Bacon Rouletted 'TEN PENCE' in Black on 9d
yellow tied by GPO cds, 'MORETON-IN-MARSH/NO1/69' arrival backstamp, forwarded to Derbyshire with superb '1' handstamp for the redirection fee and 'MATLOCK/BATH' arrival b/s (affected by a flap fault), minor peripheral defects.
The stamp has a remarkable variety that is unfortunately partially obstructed by the cancel. Either 'TEN' is Significantly Raised or 'PENCE' is Significantly Dropped, resulting in the two parts being substantially out of alignment. We have not
previously encountered such an impression.
