3176 c image1913 (Sept 29) cover registered to Germany with four-colour combination franking of New South Wales 2½d blue and Kangaroos ½d green, 2d grey & 2½d indigo tied by Sydney cds with red/white R label alongside, the back flap (with arrival marking) missing & a small closed tear clear of the stamps & markings. The rate was double 2½d per ½oz foreign letter rate plus 3d registration fee, the ½d underpayment going undetected.

AUSTRALIA' Paddle Steamer view on reverse, to Norway without added franking and taxed with Adelaide 'T/30CTS' circular handstamp & 'T' in oval cachet, on arrival rated "24" in blue pencil with Norway Postage Dues 4o purple & 20o blue affixed tied by 'SLEVIG/19IX14' cds, small corner fault at lower-left & a few blemishes. Letter Cards were subject to letter rates, the foreign rate at the time being 2½d per ½oz.
