Bacon Perf 11½-12½ 6d pale ultramarine & very fine large-part Diamond Numeral '155' cancel (RRRR; LRD and the only recorded usage on cover), framed 21mm '[GUM]ERACHA' (RR), GPO and British 'PETERBOROUGH/MR11/87' transits & 'SA[WT]RY arrival
backstamps, light even soiling more pronounced on the reverse & opening faults. PO 1.10.1861. Both markings illustrated in the Handbook. One of the most outstanding numeral/squared-circle 'ties' on cover. [Sawtry is an ancient village, mentioned in
the Domesday Book. In 1974, Huntingdonshire was absorbed into Cambridgeshire]

Gilberton: unframed 21mm 'GILBERTON/MR4/65/S.A' (rated RRRR) light but discernible strike on small cover to Adelaide with Rouletted 2d
bright vermilion (separation fault at lower-right) tied by a partly-legible Diamond Numeral '13[5]' cancel (rated C, but the only recorded pre-1868 cover), unusually with no transit or arrival datestamp. PO 1860; closed 1867 & the numeral transferred
to Arkaba. Illustrated in the Handbook. The '135' cancel is rated C, but that is across later usage at Arkaba 1870-83 & then at the GPO. Usage at Gilberton must be rare. [NB: not to be confused with the Adelaide suburb of Gilbert Town (PO 1868-1917),
which was referred to locally as "Gilberton"]

Glen Osmond: unframed 25mm 'GLEN OSMOND/MY2/1868/S-A' (rated RRRRR; the only recorded date - '1858' in the Handbook is an error - and
the only recorded cover) two largely very fine & complete strikes one tying Perkins Bacon Rouletted 2d vermilion to cover endorsed "Immediate" to "Muirheads Flat/near Mount Gambier" (last two words crossed-through), flap with backstamps removed,
light overall aging. PO 1.1.1850. [Mount Muirhead Flat is just east of Millicent, which is 45km NW of Mount Gambier]

Goolwa: Mordan-type 'GOOLWA/FE8/1858/=STH-AUSTRALIA=' (rated RRR) fine strike on cross-written part-entire to "Cockenzie/Edinburgh"
with very fine Perkins Bacon London Printing 6d deep blue SG 3 (margins close to large with a fragment of the adjoining unit above) tied by fine Diamond Numeral '74' cancel, GPO arrival backstamp of SP10/1857, light filing fold across the cds, the
reverse with Adelaide transit in blue, Edinburgh & 'PRESTONPANS/ AP7/1858' arrival, soiling mostly on the reverse. PO 18.5.1841.
The writer, identified from docketing as Captain George Bain Johnston, arrived at Goolwa in 1853 & built Cockenzie House in an area known as Little Scotland, which still stands. He ran successful river-trading businesses and was the first to navigate
the Murray as far as Albury (NSW). He writes of a troublesome tour group on "... one of the hottest days ever experienced in Australia by the white man ... they would not see themselves contented until they had seen Goolwa".

Junction (rated across both allocations).
