1782 imageUNKNOWN REGION: Probably Sepik, three-legged scraping stool made from five pieces of wood & rattan bindings shaped to a point at the rear, carved scallop-shell set into the prow & again held in position with rattan binding & natural resin, decoration of tiny shells on the underside. A wonderful piece. Size L1100xH590xW340mm. [The user would sit astride the stool & use the scallop shell to remove the husk from coconuts. (Image1)
