82 cF image1932 Opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge 1932 (March 22) 5th Australian Philatelic Exhibition cover (front only) with Bridge 2d (both) & 3d tied by Exhibition cds in red, blue & black/white R label, autographed "FE De Groot". Francis ("Frank") De Groot was a prominent Sydney manufacturer and member of the ultra-right New Guard. He achieved notoriety at the Opening Ceremony by charging forward on his horse and slashing the ceremonial ribbon with his sword, before the Premier John ("Jack") Lang could 'do the honours'. 100 c image1929 (Sep 18) complete 'PARCEL POST' label (fault at U/L) affixed to complete parcel tag to Melbourne with Third Wmk 2/- maroon (Cat $500 with other stamps on cover) tied by 'UNDERBOOL/VIC' cds, then KGV 3d blue affixed - presumably for registration, the R label being affixed to the package - & tied by a second strike of the cds. Ex 'Tillie Mitchell': sold at our auction of 29.8.2020 for $659. [2/3d does not conform to the prevailing parcel rates. However, the intrastate rate for a parcel weighing between 6 & 7lb was 2/- + 3d registration]
