1920 (Nov 16) cover to USA with scarce solo franking of 9d violet Die IIB (Cat $550 for a solo franking) tied by 'REGISTERED/BALLARAT VIC' cds that also ties the red/white R label, 'SANTA ROSA' arrival b/s of
DEC/15/1920, minor defects. The rate is problematic: according to Richard Breckon, from 1.10.1920, the foreign letter rate was 4d for the 1st ½oz + 2d for the 2nd ½oz + 3d registration = 9d. However, it may be the 4d base rate came in only on
1.1.1922 and that from 1.10.1920, the rate was 3d per ½oz x2 + 3d, again = 9d.

1921 (Sep 28) long cover with minor defects & (Oct 5) fine but truncated cover both to America with Third Wmk 3d x2 & 1/- or solo 1/- minor defects. The rate is problematic: according to Richard Breckon, from
1.10.1920, the foreign letter rate was 4d for the 1st ½oz + 2d for each additional ½oz x7 or x4. However, there is evidence that the 4d base rate came in only on 1.1.1922 and that from 1.10.1920, the rate was 3d per ½oz x6 or x4.

1925 (August) Commonwealth Bank of Australia combined parcel tag & postcard, the parcel tag side addressed to 'The Saving Bank Officer/"FORBES" Post Office' with excellent franking of KGV Heads Single Wmk ½d
orange, 4½d violet & 1/4d greenish-blue (Cat $1500 on cover) tied by Sydney 'CHIEF PARCEL OFFICE' roller cancels, the recipient - having signed the 'RECEIVED 20 Money Boxes' receipt on the face and clipped off the string eyelet at L/R - returned the
'POST CARD' reverse unstamped to Sydney with 'FORBES/N.S.W' cds, a few minor blemishes. The 1/9d franking paid the intra-state parcel rate for a shipment weighing up to 5lbs (at 9d for the first 2lbs and a further 3d per additional pound); the 1d
postcard rate for the return was not paid, presumably because the Post Office Savings Bank was entitled to free postage on official correspondence.
