546 c image1901 (Jan 22) usage of German Navy supply ship 'S.M.S. DEUTSCHE/ MARINE-/SCHIFFSPOST/No.7' cds with another superb strike alongside, Kiel '24.2.01' arrival d/s. Stated to be the only known Golden Age postcard of a German Navy ship produced in Australia (note the spelling of the ship's name - altered for English pronunciation - which in German is rendered as 'Möve'). It is likely that the ship was in Sydney as part of Federation celebrations, and that the card was printed during its visit.
