2003 c image1907 unusually-large official cover from Kuti with very fine strike of the elaborate court seal, transits comprising manuscript of Tatapani & intaglio of Chuatara with manuscript date of 21.5.1907 plus Kathmandu arrival of 24.5.1907. An unusually late usage of the traditional route, which was rarely used after the opening of British India border offices from 1904.

[Gyantse was the northernmost of the British India post offices. The person to whom it was addressed at Gyantse acted as a forwarding agent to get the letter to Lhasa]

[Because the Netherlands was neutral & the Belgian refugees were internees rather than prisoners-of-war, the Germans refused to accept covers such as this as free mail.
