1166 F imageTEN PENCE: 'TEN PENCE' in Black on 9d yellow-orange as SG 79 but apparently Imperforate, margins good to huge with a fragment of the adjoining unit below, from the right of the sheet with marginal vertical watermark lines at right, very fine GPO cds of OC12/70. Unlisted by Gibbons and the only recorded example. Necessarily offered 'as is' but the edge-of-sheet position and size of the margins cause us to share Don Pearce's confidence that this is a genuine error.

Unpublished research by Gary Diffen indicates that there were two printings with the red overprint. This stamp is a brighter ultramarine than the previous two lots. It is also dated only 9 days after the ERD, suggesting that this was the earlier issued printing. [Only three covers via Brindisi at the 1/1d rate have been recorded: this would have been a fourth.]
