TWO SHILLINGS: 2/- deep carmine horizontal pair Imperforate Between SG 144a, untidy 'SHIP MAIL ROOM' duplex, Cat £6500. Only four
pairs have been recorded, one of which is in the Royal Collection. RPSofL Certificate (1958). The 'Besancon' (I)/Gary Diffen example - minor creasing - sold for £3600. [Gibbons state that the error is from the 'rose-carmine' printing, SG 145a. This
is not correct: it is clear from the 'Besancon' and Diffen illustrations, and of the William Frazer pair, that all these items are printed in deep carmine]
