1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 1/- salmon SG 4, margins close to good, neat void-grid cancel in black, Cat £4750. A very fine & attractive example. [Although this is a very distinctive shade, it is not a true 'salmon'. Cecil Walkley had a similar stamp - just shaved on two sides - that he had acquired as a 'salmon' but which he considered was a red-brown shade. It sold for $1322. This example is of significantly superior quality]

In our opinion, Gibbons need to list both this shade and the deep chocolate ('Tomasini' brown) shade.

A rare & attractive multiple. Ex Trevor Hiscock: sold for $7188. Previously sold at a London auction for £4112 (Nov 2007). [Superior in quality & appearance to Sir Gawaine Baillie's 1/- pale brown marginal pair that sold for $2760, and Dr Cecil Walkley's 1/- grey-brown block of 4 that sold for $9775]

1854-55 Lithographs Pin-Perforated 18 at Bunbury 4d blue (possibly 'deep dull blue' as SG 3b) with pin-perfs on all sides, a few trimmed perfs, neat 15-bar '18' of Bunbury in blue. Rare. Unlisted by Gibbons. [This is a well known private separation, of similar status to the experimental separations of several Tasmanian towns (SG 91 to 117), that is deserving of full catalogue status. Both Mogens Juhl and Cecil Walkley had similar stamps in a deep shade, both similarly cancelled in blue]
