AN EXTREMELY RARE USAGE OF THE CHIHUAHUA 1861 4R DULL ROSE ON YELLOW FROM ALLENDE.

The Red on Yellow were printed in parallel to combat the illegal use of splits from six larger districts. These districts received both colors of the 4r stamps. However, at the end of the issue, with the post office in disarray, the small balance of these stamps in the central post office was sent in small amounts to 16 other districts including Chihuahua. All those are rarities. A similar example sold recently in the sale of the Dr. Iglesias collection $2100 hammer price.
