The Omar Rodriguez Collection of the 1861 Hidalgo Issue continued...

Campeche to Chihuahua Districts continued...
LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
3041     12 imageMexico, Campeche 8r Green on Red Brown. Traces of o.g., margins close; small thin and pinhole, Fine appearance, the 8r Black on Green were printed in parallel to the 8r Black on Brown to combat the illegal use of splits from six larger districts and sent only to those, at the end of the issue with the central post office in disarray, the small balance of the 8r Green stamps on hand was sent in small amounts to 16 other districts including Campeche, all these are rarities, with 2016 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.
Scott No. 12; Estimate $1,500 - 2,000.

The original records of issued stamps do not specify the breakdown between 8r Black and 8r Green. The estimated quantities used by experts are based on likely dates of printing of the 8r Green and are not exact. Up until 2016 it was believed no 8r Green have been issued in this district. Now there are 2 examples with MEPSI opinions proving it was. This is the discovery copy.
