1602       Fiji, Cover Group, 1953-54. Of 19 KGVI registered covers to Indiana, all with correct 9d postage, all different towns, some quite scarce, 5 in combination with QEII stamps. Includes s/l manuscript Namuka-i-Lau, violet straight line Dalice, Gau handstamp and date in me, Kioa, violet Moala and Vuna, Waiyevo, Lautoka, Nauso(ri), Savu Savu, Rotuma (with manuscript regular.) Tavua, Buca Bay (with violet boxed Natuva regular. handstamp), Devo, Raki Raki, Ba, Somo Somo, Nadi, Nadi Airport, etc. An excellent lot for the cancellation specialist.

On album pages, stock sheets, stock cards, a bit of a jumble but a lot of interesting material here, mostly assembled for cancellation interest (detailed study) but also includes multiples, QV key type complete set used on piece, Silver Jubilee complete used set in blocks of 4 with plate number at top, QV 3d deep purple and ultramarine scarce shade used, group of 7 QV forgeries. Cancels include McCarthy Island and same with M.O.O., concentric circles, parallel bars, Received Gambia, Bathhurst various types, Kunta-UR, Basse (including 74 assembled as a "calendar"), arrival markings, Paquebots, TPOs, about 20 canceled in Sierra Leone, registration date stamps, parcel post, wireless station, glassine envelope with various KGVI, etc. A great deal of value here, many better values included. Most F-VF.

Higher values include 1/ (15), 1/6 (5), 2/ (6), 2/6 (3), 3/ (2), 4/ (3), 5/ (7 mint, 2 used) and 10/ (4). 1612 P      Gambia, 1964 Proof Sheet Set. Set of 6 Proof Sheets sent to the G.P.O. in England when Gambia became independent. On Crown Agents watermarked paper.
