11856 imageAustralian Joint Stock Bank £5 Brisbane 1-1-1881 Q76406. Imprint Perkins Bacon & Co London. Hand signed. MVR type 3a. Strong colour, gF/F, rust stains & vertical folds. Ex Geoff K Grays. All pre-federation Five Pound notes are very rare except Bank of Australasia, Commercial Bank of Sydney, Bank of NSW & Sydney Domicile A.J.S.B. Queensland Domicile issued notes are very rare. This note appears to be UNIQUE & can be considered as the rarest & most important note from the New England banknote hoard of 1971 (Armidale) which consisted of 123 Fine + Ten Pound noted dated 1876-84.
