Lot 965 - 1936 KEVIII 2d red wmk Crown CofA UNISSUED due to his abdication. One full sheet was presented to the Governor of Victoria when he visited the printer on the occasion of the printing of the new stamps. But when the decision was made not to issue KEVIII stamps all the remaining sheets were then officially destroyed (and not a single example was even left in archives) & all proofs, dies & plates were also destroyed. The Governor was then asked by the printer to return the sheet which he did, with ....Estimate AU$200,000 Currently AU$ 140,000

Auction 364 has 3,541 lots, catering for all types of collectors & dealers - from bulk accumulations and intact collections to desirable single items. The Australian lots cover all periods, from the Kangaroo issues up to Decimal and contain numerous number of mint & used £1 & £2 top values. This auction includes a C of A Watermark £2 Black & rose LR cnr marginal. VF MUH with sl darker never hinged original gum, nice deep & fresh colours. SG 138 cat £4250 for M, should be at least double £8500 MUH. ACSC 58 cat $15,000. Spectacular positional example & very rare genuine MUH.(Lot 688).
