Lot 1483 - 1855 QV 1/- violet, watermark Large Star, Perkins Bacon London printing unissued value, with 'CANCELLED' h/s which was applied to sample stamps that were given by Perkins Bacon to Rowland Hill's family. Superb VFU appearance with fantastic deep colour, with expertly repaired UR cnr which now looks perfect, (A large printing of the 1/- violet was ordered from London but when the stock arrived in Adelaide the Postmaster objected to the colour on the basis that it could get confuused with the 6d d....Estimate AU$30,000 Currently AU$ 20,000

Auction 396 has 3,571 lots, catering for all types of collectors & dealers - from bulk accumulations and intact collections to desirable single items.
