Sam Houston Philatelics Sale - 3084

Mail, Phone, Internet Auction - August 4, 2021

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday August 04, 2021 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains over 500 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • UNITED STATES, There are about (60) U.S. lots, with some scarce and rare Classics. Included are a no. 1a, the Blackish Brown color for this issue; the no. 2 position 31R1 double transfer variety - very rare; and a scarce no. 22 position 80L4 OG/LH , There are a few nice Pictorials and several Banknotes that includes a no. 151 OG (disturbed) and no. 163 15¢ Orange on vertically ribbed paper. About (20) lots are from the 19th-20th turn of the century issues, including a 50¢ Trans-Mississippi NH. U.S. material closes with about (24) lots of Washington/Franklins and Modern issues and includes a scarce no. 388 Coil Guide-Line pair.
  • COVERS, There are (23) Cover lots; (6) Commercial and (17) First Day Covers, from which to choose. Included are a Civil War patriotic cover (Magnus) and a C18 Graf Zepplin FDC flown on the Graf Zepplin.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, contains over (20) lots of Airmails and Back of Book issues, with a couple graded Airmail items and plate number strips/3 with Bureau imprints of both E5 and E6, which just might be great showpieces. Also, we are offering a used copy of newspaper PR4, the 5¢ light blue on yellowish paper, very scarce.

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (16) lots of EFO's are offered. There are a few scarce/rare items, including the Overrun countries Poland Reverse Printing ERROR on cover, the 22¢ CPA, black engraved omitted (No. 2361a) and the 34¢ Apples and Oranges, Vertical Strip of 4, die cutting omitted (No. 3492d).

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, includes about (175) lots from a variety of countries e.g. Canada (34), Germany (25), Great Britain (27), including the 6pence embossed issue (#7a), Greece, Japan, Russia (includes a #4 and others); a nice variety for your selection.

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are (11) Autographs, including Postmaster Generals Farley, Gronousk and O'Brien; plus First Lady Grace Coolidge and Vice-President John Nance Garner. Also, an interesting lot of exonumia - 1935-36 Sales Tax Tokens.

  • DUCK STAMPS AND CONSERVATION STAMPS (Federal, Junior and State) contains about (190) lots, which includes a couple of Souvenir Cards, and Federal and State FDC's. One duck collection is offered - a nice starter group of used issues on which to build. A few (7) Federal Plate Number Singles are offered and (86) Federal Duck singles and Plate Blocks; (9) Mini-sheets and Press Sheet pieces, which includes a GEM RW74b and a matched set of (4) RW73 PB/6 from press sheet. Additionally, we are offering (3) gorgeous duck stamp Remarques by artist Mark Anderson, winner for RW72. There are (17) Duck Errors, and (28) Federal and State Artist Signed stamps. A selection of (17) State Duck and Foreign issues and (8) Governor's Edition lots; with a couple Conservation and Fishing items. The sale ends with a very nice and rare selection of (4) Prints - all Federal - RW7 10, 13 and 34.
