2484 C Papua c early 1942 WWII stampless OAS cover to Brisbane, "Australia, with violet h/s "PASSED FREE/OF POSTAGE" & small circular "I". Sender's address: "P.M.O. Moore, U.S.A. S.S.D., A.P.O. 928". No other markings. US APO 928 was at Milne Bay Papua. This must date from early in the involvement of US Forces. Some light stains.

2485 C Papua 1942 WWII OAS regd air cover to NZ, franked Australia GVI 3d x 3, canc 2 faint strikes of "FIELD P.O. 0140" cds 13 JE 42, with further complete strike on back. Also on front: boxed unit regn h/s (with m/s "B.P.O (NGF)" & AMF censor No. 2748 h/s (both in violet). This cds used at 4 Mile Camp, Port Moresby, May 1942-Jan 1943. Part of flap missing otherwise fine. Proud states this period of use "not seen". Very scarce item.
