EL REY – CORREOS FRANQUICIA" royal free frank handstamp, blue "Service de blessés des prisonniers de guerre" and blue "FRANCIA" handstamps on front,  "PARIS XVIII DISTRIBUTION" double-circle receiver and red wax seal bearing "SECRETARIA PARTICULAR DE S.M. EL REY" and the Spanish Coat of Arms on back, fine and scarce.

The Spanish crown contributed a great deal to improving the treatment of prisoners and non-combatants throughout WW1. Alfonso XIII, at his own expense, maintained a staff of forty who helped him serve as an intermediary between prisoners and their families.  (Image) (image2)
