LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
554 O 3 image1841 3c red brown Queen Victoria Imperforate, an old time collection of 48 stamps, all with plate letter errors and oddities. Many are described by owner as shifted, doubled, smear, repaired letter, burr, deformed, "E on F" and much more, some are also identified by plate number. 555 O 3 image1841 3c red brown Queen Victoria Imperforate, a group of 56 used singles, collected for the wide range of shades and papers. Scott lists three basic shades: red brown ($9), orange brown ($55) and lake red ($825). At the very least there should be examples of these here, as well as examples from the many other Stanley Gibbons shades listed. Some of these are described by the owner as being brown red, puce, plum, mulberry, brown, rose, red-lake and orange red, and there are also a few examples on very blued paper. A great lot for the specialist, overall fine with the usual small faults. (Scan a)

573 og/nh 57 image1922 5sh carmine rose Seahorse Overprinted Irish Free State, a mint sheet of 40 (4x10), with selvedge all around and center cross at four sides. Owner describes a "re-entry to 5" at position 6/3, an "S over é" at position 9/2 and "fat upgraded accent" at position 10/4 (these unlisted in Scott). This sheet does not have the plate flaws mentioned in Scott footnote thus is probably an early printing or a different plate. There is quite a bit of perf separation, mostly reinforced by hinges, leaving a remaining 20 stamps never hinged. Rare, with probably very few remaining. Rsv. (Scan a)
