348   image1895 (JU 25) registered cover to London franked by the six values then in issue, comprising 1878-79 1s bistre-brown no watermark and 1891-1902 ½d green (1892 printing), 1d claret (1894 printing), 2½d dull blue (a lovely deep shade from the Nov 1891 printing), 4d olive-black (May 1895 printing, which had arrived the day before!) and 6d orange-yellow (Nov 1891 printing) tied by three fine strikes of type F1 cds with ‘(crown)/registered’ hs and London arrival ds (30 AU 95) below with further arrival cds on reverse. A wonderful six-colour franking of considerable interest, bearing what is likely to be the earliest known usage of the 4d olive-black. SG 4, 16/33x (Image) (Image2) (All Images)

349   image1895 (JU 25) ‘SCHLOTTFELDT… KOSMOS’ printed commercial cover from Port Stanley, registered to Buenos Aires, franked by 1891-1902 2½d Prussian blue and 6d orange-yellow pair, tied by fine strikes of type F1 Falkland Islands cds, with very fine ‘(Crown)/REGISTERED’ mark at left. Undelivered and with boxed ‘NON RECLAME’ and ‘REBUT/ BUENOS AIRES’ hs on face. Slight creasing and soiling but an exceptional and most attractive cover bearing a very rare franking. 351   image1896 (SP 14) registered ‘Buckup’ cover to Hamburg bearing 1891-1902 set of 8 to 1s, tied by type F2 cds (which also ties the edges of the 9d and 4d values)  the other four values tied by four fine strikes of cork cancel (Barnes 1/96 ‘Buckup’) and blue crayon line. ‘(Crown)/REGISTERED’ below with 2x London arrival hs dated ‘22 OCT 96' and ‘18 JAN 97’ alongside, reverse showing 2x Hamburg receiving hs dated 23/10/96 and 19/1/97. A very interesting cover which travelled the route twice, presumably leaving the Falklands first time with only the cds applied and the other stamps uncancelled, the cover then sent back with the request to cancel the other stamps when the cork and registration crayon was applied. Minor faults- vertical crease and some soiling and flap damage on reverse, nevertheless a highly unusual and attractive cover. SG 17/38 (Image) (Image2) (All Images)
