Stamp with minor creasing and cover with two pinholes, neither affecting lovely clean appearance. SG 41 (Image) (Image2) (All Images)

image1901 large part linen-lined registered cover (reduced at left) from Government House (embossed Royal Arms on flap), to Hull, UK, franked by 1898 2s6d deep blue, tied by part strike of Type F4 ‘Falkland Islands’ cds with ‘(Crown)/Registered’ mark below, and red oval London transit (22 AU 01) alongside, with London and Hull arrival backstamps (both 22 AU). Endorsed in pencil under stamp ‘Under 5½ oz’ which would have required 11d postage + 2d registration but this is undoubtedly a commercial usage, and the excess may be explained by insurance fees. Slight faults (stamp with minor creasing), still an attractive and very rare usage. SG 41 (Image) (Image2) (All Images)

image1911 1d orange-vermilion lower six rows of sheet used, some faults as to be expected with a block of this size; vertical crease, splitting and reinforced, lower right piece of selvedge missing.  A remarkable multiple, surely the largest used block known. SG 44e (Image)

image1904-12 2d purple with WATERMARK REVERSED, a well centred block of four, centrally cancelled by very fine ‘PORT STANLEY’ type PS1A cds, dated ‘SP 25 24’. A very rare multiple in choice quality. SG 45ax cat £900 (Image)

image1904-12 KEVII 1s brown, complete sheet lacking the upper left corner stamp, brilliant fresh o.g. (trace of hinge on one stamp only), Only 255 sheets printed and a remarkable item in its own right, but much enhanced by the presence of the missing stamp, tied to a large official registered cover (Royal Arms on flap) to Buenos Aires by type F4C cds dated ‘AU 5 10’ with blue ‘Falkland Islands’ registration label at lower left. The cover (which must be extremely rare as a commercial solo franking of 1s paying quadruple rate + 2d registration), addressed to the President of the Argentine Philatelic Society contained this and other sheets, making up a £10 order (original invoice enclosed!)  The official form, dated 2/8/10, begins ‘…. Stamps which I enclose herewith as enumerated below PART OF WHICH ARE ON THE ENVELOPE’. A wonderful piece of philatelic history, and a quite extraordinary survival, to have the stamp on cover and the very sheet from which it came!
