The word ‘comprehensive’ scarcely does justice to this assembly, which covers all conceivable aspects of the subject, from 1869 to 1910, and rarities and beauties abound. Essays, proofs, “SPECIMEN” examples, mint, used, usages on forms, cancels, varieties and errors – they are all to be found here. An alarming number of items are indisputably unique, while many are the only examples so far recorded. Even the basic stamps in mint condition are usually scarce to rare, and where they are not represented it is often because they are not known to exist in that state.
