561 CVR   image1855 "Packet Letter / Mauritius" on a Folded Letter to France, the letter inside is datelined "Port Louis, Maurice 26 Mars 1855" and endorsed "par Bayadève via Ceylan" (inside letter and on front). We note an oval "Goudin & Coutanceau / Port Louis / ile Maurice" business handstamp in green, addressed to ship builders in Marseille. With double oval "PACKET LETTER / MAURITIUS / MR 27 / 1855" in red, with Marseille c.d.s. receiver, docketing notes received on May 26th, very fine.

580 CVR   image1855 12c Rate Cover to Prince Edward Island, mailed from Cloverport, Kentucky on SEP.27.1855 and addressed to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Franked with a sheet margin block of 3c Washington imperforates (Type II, with some faults), each cancelled and tied to cover with three better than usual strikes of Prince Edward Island datestamps dated OCT.12.1855. Back has same datestamp (same date) plus a St John New Brunswick OCT 7 and a blue St Andrews NB datestamp dated OCT 3 (or 8?). There is a notation "per Steamer to Boston". Lots of edge wear and overall aging, but a scarce franking (we have not seen more than a pair on cover) and destination.
